LilaConnect’s Community-Give-Back Series: Henbury & Brentry Community Centre

Last month we launched our Community Give-Back series and this month we are carrying on whilst switching our focus to Bristol, our newest build area!

Throughout July our Bristol-based Community Engagement team have been going above-and-beyond to support The Henbury & Brentry Community Centre.

About the centre…

This centre is a community hub offering an array of activities including ballet, yoga and art as well as a much needed and appreciated foodbank.

Throughout the last year extra-curricular activities have had to take a break but will be returning soon. See a full list of activities to enjoy below. The foodbank however, has been going through its busiest time ever. With 90 additional families being referred during the pandemic, this hub has successfully been helping to feed over 150 people per week.

Why are LilaConnect helping out?

With more mouths to feed, more storage space is needed for supplies and more hands needed to pack-up and deliver food donations.

Thanks to the extra demand, this centre is currently struggling to house all the food they need to package in order to keep it’s families fed, but there is a solution. We are helping to raise money so the centre can purchase a storage unit. If you can, any donation would be greatly appreciated!

What else are we doing to help?

Our Community Engagement team have been on-hand throughout June and July, helping to sort, pack and deliver foodbank boxes to those in need across Bristol. We’ve also had a chance to get to know residents by taking an active role, serving in the Community Café. Take a look at our team in action…

Have some time spare and keen to help out? The centre are hugely appreciative of any volunteer help from the community. To get involved, please contact Wendy: enquiries@henburyandbrentrycommunitycentre.com.

Come say hello…

On the 24th July our team were once again on-hand helping out at the Centre’s Annual General Meeting and whilst we were there, we presented to residents the work we are doing to bring our state-of-the-art gigabit full fibre network to Bristol. If you didn’t manage to join us but would like to know more, our team regularly host pop-ups around Bristol, keep an eye on our social media channels to see where we’ll be next, or click here to find out more…
