Community Give Back Series

Introducing LilaConnect’s Community Give-Back Series: The Pop-Up Pantry

Here at LilaConnect we take pride in championing our local community, and the fantastic work our community groups do to support vulnerable people in the areas in which we build. Not satisfied with all the great work our team already undertakes, we are thrilled to announce ‘The LilaConnect Community Give-Back Series’ started this month in Stoke-on-Trent and is being spear-headed by our wonderful Community Engagement team!

To kick things off, we’ve chosen a community group that is close to our hearts, the Pop-Up Pantry, formerly held at St Michael’s Church in Chell and now residing at the Church of the Saviour in Chell Heath. This group has done some fantastic work supporting local families during what has been an incredibly difficult time, feeding around 160 people every single week! But they can’t do it without a generous helping hand, relying on donations in order to meet the increasing need for support in the local area. With this in mind, we have gladly spent the month supporting the Pop-Up Pantry assisting with their food collections, a move to a new home and an awareness drive at a local market. Keep reading to find out more.

The big move

Aside from assisting with day-to-day food collections, we knew that June was going to be a busy time for our Charity-of-the-month. The Pop-Up Pantry moved to their new home at the Church of the Saviour in Chell on the 8th of June and such a big move required some extra hands (and wheels) to make the transition a smooth one. Our Community Engagement team came up trumps with one of our purple LilaConnect vans ready and waiting for duty. We loaded up and got to work moving from A to B in good time for the charity’s next venture the ‘Bread of Life Community Pantry’. A huge well done to all the volunteers who pitched in.

Come and say hello…

Next on our list, it was time to raise some funds. On the 25th June we headed to Tunstall Market to raise some local awareness of the great work the Pop-Up Pantry do. We held a very successful ‘Guess how many sweets in the jar?’ contest for a chance to win an Echo Dot. We are thrilled to announce that we have raised a whopping £175 in total and even had our neighbouring stalls donate to our prize bundle! We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed and a big well done to our lucky winner!
